Akhilesh Yadav demanded clarification on why the Power Minister neither attends nor is invited to the Chief Minister’s review meeting with the Power Department. “If he does, I request the Energy Minister to post a photo of him ‘with his hand on his shoulder,’ as it would provide some relief to the public from your mutual heat, since they have never seen you two together in private,” he further demanded.

The SP president said that under BJP rule, PACs are deployed at power substations, and MLAs and MPs resort to cowardly actions by writing letters against their own government to escape public anger. “It seems the BJP no longer has any current,” he taunted.

He said that the BJP government has ruined the Electricity Department in ten years. “During BJP’s entire tenure, the Chief Minister did not set up a single new power plant nor did he increase the production of even a single unit of electricity. The BJP government only kept extorting money from the public by changing meters. The BJP worked to cheat and loot the public. Today, the people of the state are crying out for electricity. People are taking to the streets in various places to protest. Instead of increasing power production and providing electricity, the government is committing the sin of misleading the public by using various excuses,” he alleged.
